As for the Ingitor, you need a driver/ amplifier to convert the small pulse signal for the dissy to a power pulse that will trigger the ignitor. There is a electronics kit you can get from http://jaycarstore.webfactory.com.au/index11.ws4d it is a Universal High Energy Ignition Kit that will run just about any dissy and coil, the kit is a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition).
Not quite correct. The small pulse signal, if running points, isnt a small signal at all... infact itll run the coil by itself quite well (what its made for). Only if the dizzy was made for use with electronic ignition does it *have* to be used with an ignitor unit before the coil.
Also... The "High Energy Ignition Kit" isnt CDI at all. Its the equiv of a new cars electronic ignition that can be used in an old car. They might (if they still stock it) have a multi-firing CDI kit if thats what you want.
Since your running the 18RG, the dizzy will have points. The best thing to do would be to use the orignal 18RG distributor and then use either the HEI kit or a CDI kit. If you want to move up to EFI or a real programmable ign unit at a later date, dont bother with a kit... just use the 18RG dizzy like normal until you get the EFI or programmable ign unit at the later date.
