brett_celicacoupe has hit it on the head

i take it the kit being a tap and die set
(thread making set) there are also thread
repair kits which are expensive and dunno
if they are any good

there are various degrees of rootedness lol
i dunno how rooted it is but the mentioned
ways will all work. if it is only the top
section of thread you might get away with
cleaning up the thread with a tap as cool1
has said.
