Jaycar has reed switches which will work - about 4 different types. All you want it to do it close the switch and allow 12V through a couple of times per revolution.

Alternatively, have you taken out your instrument cluster and had a good look at the circuit board for the speedometer? You should find a spot on that circuit board somewhere labelled "4P" - this is the "SPD" signal as given by the speedo for the other AE92 models.
