Well of course a cat converter is going to have to restrict the flow a little bit to actually do its job properly - but then its also muffling the sound a bit at the same time, so can maybe be used instead of one of your mufflers.

As for backpressure, the whole theory of gas flow etc. is very little understood and a bit complex - generally it works best to just stick the biggest pipe on the end of the turbo possible. Also remember the massive amount of restriction that a turbo places in the exhaust Evil or Very Mad
