Thu, 10 February 2005 02:47 I've been told that one cause of your radio emitting a whine while the engine is running is that the alternator brushes/slip rings have either had it or are slightly damaged so that each time the damaged part of a slip ring passes over a brush a spark is produced. This voltage spike can be heard through the speakers. I think that's problem I have with my car (I hope) so I'm going to change the alternator sometime soon. Does the whine become louder when you switch on the headlights (while the car is running)? Hopefully that helps. Cheers (edit:: Just changed the alternator, and the problem dissappeared.)
