Thu, 10 February 2005 13:31 Australian fuel regulations are trying to harmonise with the Euro fuel regs (usually lagging by a couple of years). On the subject of MON ratings I believe the regs only specify that the maximum sensitivity (diff. between RON and MON) of any petrol must not be greater than 10 ie. minimum MON for a 98RON fuel is 88, for 95RON it's 85 etc. That means the anti-knock index for our 98RON fuel is at least 93. I recall reading somewhere that it's not just as simple as refining a fuel with the highest possible MON because increasing MON points supposedly results in RON points being lost for each MON point gained.
