Fri, 11 February 2005 14:56 As soon as the body was done, it was bodykit fitting time. We came across a quite rare wide fender set with sideskirts, originally made for the ST162. A German company used to produce this kit, but they have long been out of business unfortunately! Rear fender flare Front fender flare Then, one day, it was all primered and ready to paint! Mind you, this was almost one year later... After the paintjob was done, the buildup started. The car was reassembled quite fast, and started to actually look like a car. And then, I made the mistake of a lifetime! I bought a 2nd gen 3S-GTE engine out of a US-spec MR2. Looking back, it was a bad engine, but I knew nothing about engines then and totally trusted the mechanic guy, who said nothing about the crank not even turning when he first tried!! (BAD PISTON RINGS, ANYONE!?) Sure, it LOOKS nice Meanwhile, the buildup progressed slowly, because we had to wait for new Toyota parts, such as US-spec front corner lights, rear clusters, etc. But it started to look really good!
