The only acceptable use for these are on a race car when it is not racing. You are much better off with a K&N type washable filter. On non-crossflow motors it is a good idea to use or fabricate an air box to keep the heat away; or create a heat shield between the inlet & exhaust manifold. Ram pipes will smooth the air flow into the carb. This provides an element of acceleration to it with a venturi effect thus improving the cfm rating for a given carb spec'.
