Mon, 14 February 2005 00:10 I'd also think an old school carby fed v8, or even a "newer" school fuel injected v8 like the VN V8 would be the go. I know a group of guys with VN/VP's and most of them now run in the 12's with not too much work on the engine. Hell, most of them are still running the stock throttle body. Can't go past an old Kingswood/Falcon with the 5lt or 5.8lt for cheap fun though - I had some very frightening rides in cars that cost less than $5k AUD and were pretty brutal in a straight line. I doubt any modern turbo jap 4 or 6 cyl would be as quick for that sort of money. Best value for money I've seen in a drag car was an LJ torana GTR with a 350 Chev motor, 2 spd powerglide and tubbed 9inch rear. Cost second hand but freshly built (never run at the track) was $15K - first time out it ran 10.07! [Report message to a moderator]
