its an absolute nightmare to get a good look at it, my mates a mechanic and im pretty handy with tools (not like that ya dirty bastards ) and he reackons it would take atleast a day for us to take it out and put it back. Its leaking refridgerent and needs a rebuild, but i'd like to try and score a "backup" if i need to scavenge any parts to aide the rebuild
but the car is a SW20 early Jan 1991 and turbo of course but if you could have a quick squizz at the EPC that would be great.
i actually saw the thing about the camry on the mr2oc.com forum which is US based and there was a thread that mentioned the compressor was the same as on a 5S-FE, i dunno what cars got the 5s in the states but i thought here the 5S's were in the SV21 camrys?? i really have no idea, just going on lots things that i've seen heard around these and other forums
Salisbury toyota wanted $770 for labour + $595 for a rebuilt compressor + $100 odd for receiver dryer and dye and incedentals which i thought was insanely expensive so i've decided to do the job myself. Speaking with an auto elect who specialises in A/C's he reackons that its a common fault on the MR2 turbos, just too much heat and it kills the seals in the compressor, but he thinks if its only seals they can be replaced cheaply.
Thanks for any help.
