2 engines & trannys (Escudo) how did they sync them?

Just curious, with a front and rear mounted engine and transmission system in the Escudo. How the hell did they syncronise everything? A hardcore computer system?
Did each engine have basically a typical fwd and rwd transmission system respectively?
And to get the weight they had, with 2 engines, what were the engine capacities, produced a shitload of power?
