I have a metal cyclinder thingy that the spark lead goes to the distributor from is that the coil pack? and if so can it be replaced with one of those new fangled little black box thingys? am i making any sense? my mums car has one of these black box things going to the centre of the dizzy and i was wondering if a) it makes any difference to performance either more power or greater fuel economy and b) is it just plug and play ie unplug the cyclinder and wire up the box thing.

Cheers
