i've recently added a VDO temp gauge and the response of the stock toyota one is interesting....
to get about 1-2mm off the bottom is about 82deg (thermostat temp).. take it up to 90 and it goesmaybe 1mm more.. then go up to 95 and it shoots up 2-3mm... the temp gauge seems to have exponential response to temp above thermostat temp.... well, thats my finding anyway (not exactly sure on the exponential bit. might be a power series )
