You guys are champions ... all that info is great, and it's pretty much how I interpreted the info from various sites ... 
Regarding the modifications, I was under the impression that all 15+ y.o. imports ARE ALLOWED to have mods done to them and they do not need to be replaced with original items - I think that is only for SEVS i.e. less that 15 y.o. imports
