Whatever you do you will have to remove the spring. Take the spring to a springworks and the have all the gear to work out your spring rate. They have a caged lever system as descibed by 5KinKP60. It should also cost you nothing. Also whilst you're there, check out their prices on springs....often they are significantly cheaper than name brands and you know the exact rate of your springs, rather than some bullshit claim of "30% stiffer".
