Well I arrived back home last night after both good and bad luck, so thought I'd take the opportunity to fill people in on what happened, and express a few thanks too.

Firstly, more thanks than I can mention to Stitt and his parents, Peter and Kerrie, for allowing Seth and I to crash in their lounge room - excellent people to meet, socialise and interact with. Thnaks also to Stitt for running us around, giving directions (especially when asleep), letting us borrow the "fooly sik dorifto Crown wagon" - next time I'm over dude, I want to see the "DSH 17T" plates on it?!

We joined in ont the Krispy Kremes cruise Saturday night, met alot of people there for the first time, I've only talked to online, or through email. Thanks to RAV-GT4/Andrew for the ride that night, and hope you get rid of the water catcher soon?!!! Thanks to Ms Puzzleman/Cassie for letting me steal a doughnut too! Of particular note that night was Witzl's and Andrew's driving range competition - I never thought a "Happy Gilmor" approach and swing would ever work?!!!

We picked the car up first thing Sunday morning, and fortunately got it running with a minimum of fuss. Due to the front tyres being dangerously stuffed, and a very sick power steering pump, we decided not to take it to our next "event" - Pac Run - those of you who've seen the footage will agree we had a good time. Thanks to Lucid/Paul for taking us to the meet point and Seth's ride for the day, and also to Black Supra/ Glen for my passenger seat ride in his car - thoroughly enjoyed it - very stable throughout, and only one small understeer slide to note.

Many thanks to Yelorolla/Jason and Cressida chick/Kylie for their hospitality after the Pac Run - was refreshing to just sit back and relax after what had been a very busy 24 hours for us, even if I did feel a bit brain dead at that time.

Monday, I met up with more people at the AGM, and the pizza after was yet another good opportunity to socialise - this led to Puzzleman/Craig, Steve Healey, and myself holding an impromptu photo shoot around Luna Park and other places. Great to meet Steve and his wagon, and thanks to Craig for taking the photos, and Cassie for putitng up with us at that hour of the night.

The rest of the week was spent preping bits and pieces for our return back to Perth - we made a decision to drive the car back, as it seemed to be handling the rigors of street life again without major issue after it's 12-18 month hiatus(Steering Pump noise?, ..., what steering pump noise? Razz ), so four new tyres were put on the car, and we attempted to have the aircon regassed only to find out the compressor was stuffed - we reverted to 2WD aircon - 2 Windows Down - the road trip was definately on!

A wild night in Manly, Glen's Supra on the Pac Run, and Stitt's approach to life were definate highlights of Sydney!

We left Saturday lunch timeish, and headed for Wollongong to have a look. After that we headed for Canberra, and at th9is point I feel asleep while Seth drove. I woke up to realise we had missed the turnoff we wanted, so we backtracked and found an excellent road through Kangaroo Valley to cut and run, distance wise. I thoruoghly recommend you all drive this road at least once - it was awsome.

We arrived in Canberra late that afternoon, and did the sightseeing thing for the next few days. My particular brand of sightseeing involved catching up with TA22 3TG/ Mitch, and JustenGT4/Justen, who gave me a ride in his GT8 - I've got footage to prove I enjoyed myself, and thats all I'm going to say! Thanks also to Mitch for the running repairs we made to my car in a vain effort to get the bloody thing to boost, unfortunately nothing sufficed.

The day after the repairs, was our final day of sight seeing for Canberra - we were to leave the morning following for Adelaide, but...

On the way into Canberra, the car developed a repeatious metallic ting - which I originally though was the power steering pump finally giving up. When i realised I could vary the noise with throttle, I knew it wasn't sounding good! We stalled while downshifting and coasted into the service station with smoke coming from the engine bay. a quick check of both oil and water (also checked the previous day too), revealed absolutely no water in the cooling system. No water in the sump and the fact that it still holds water (so not a burst pipe), has me stumped, but I think it was more a major internal let go that stopped us over anything else. 15 minutes later we had the steam stopped and the cooling system filled, only to reveal no compression - stuffed head, and the knocking noise was now there on crank too, so it will be interesting to pull the engine aprt and find out exactly what let go/went wrong.

At this point, I'll also make mention that I hold absolutely no animosity to the previous owner of the car either - I'm still happy to have bought it for the price I did, with the added bonus that it came with a complete halfcut for replacement motor and box anyway.

So there we were, stuck at a servo on the Federal Highway, 7Kms from Canberra. Best laid plans always help, so assuming I would not be able to get the car running when picking it up - I organised freight for it just in case before I left Perth. A couple of quick phone calls had the car delivered back to my freight company in Sydney the following day, for freight back to Perth, and two cheap airfares home yesterday.

So all in all, a good "break" if somwhat jam packed with lots of things, and not overly laid back. Thanks to everyone I finally met face to face, and who helped me out along the way.

For those of you I met while over that way, should you ever come over to Perth, by all means get in contact with me - I may even have the spare bedroom free for you to crash there?!
