Yeah worried for nothing.
Obviously they are both 12V pumps so they need to be wired in parallel.
The pump will draw as much current as it needs. It will draw more current if it stuffed ie. short in the windings etc, or if you stall it somehow, like blocking it mechanically etc. (use a filter to protect your pumps)
If they are brand new pumps they should be fine.
Might be worth your while having the low pressure pump power up first to 'prime' your surge tank. Its bad to run a pump with no fuel running through it as some pumps use the petrol to cool the pump.
Use an aux output to drive your high pressure pump.
Just a suggestion....
