Guys i checked the codes however i am unsure if i did it correctly (i think I did)
When i shorted T and E1 i get
4 flashes - short pause - 2 flashes - long pause
and repeat
Now I thought this meant a code 4 and a code 2. But then I found this on MR2OC.COM (see bold sentance)
Quote: | ITA-MR2, Is the CEL codes for the 87 the same for the 85-86?
Here is how to check the code:
MKI ECU Diagnostic Codes
Diagnosis System: To obtain output, proceed as follows.
Initial conditions must be met for codes to appear in normal output.
1. Battery Voltage must be 11 volts or more
2. Throttle valves must be fully closed (throttle position sensor IDL points closed)
3. Transmission in neutral position
4. Accessories switched off
5. Engine at operating temperature
Turn the ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine)
Short terminals TE1 and E1 of the check connector of the diagnosis connector cluster.
Diagnostic Codes:
Normal System Operation: (no malfunction)
1985 - 86 The light will blink once every 4.5 seconds
1987 ?
1988 – 89 The light will blink once every 0.5 seconds.
Malfunction Codes Indication
1985 – 86 The light will blink a number of times equal to the malfunction code indication with a 2.5 second interval between each indication.
After the largest code has been indicated, there will be a 4.5 second pause followed by another repetition of the diagnostic code(s).
1988 – 89 The light will blink a number of times equal to the malfunction code indication as follows:
1. Between the first digit and second digit, 1.5 seconds
2. Between code and code, 2.5 seconds
3. Between all malfunction codes, 4.5 seconds.
NOTE: The diagnostic code series will be repeated as long as the check connector terminals T and E1 are shorted.
NOTE: In the event of a number of trouble codes, indication will begin from the smaller value and continue in order to the larger number.
