I have put a 4AGZE engine in my AE92 Corolla GTi (UK car) but I am having a few problems getting it running. The car cranks but does not fire. There is oil pressure and the injectors are getting a feed. When cranking the engine there is no spark however spark plugs no 2 & 3 do fire when manually triggered by grounding from the igniter or the ECU. The igniter itself has been grounded to the battery so im confident that isnt the problem. Do sparks 1 & 4 require a positive connection to fire??
Both the igniter and cam angle sensor have been tesed on another 'ZE and work fine. However i was unable to test the ECU as the engine was an AE101 rather than an AE92 which is what i have. For the record its a MAP engine and distributorless.
On one of the plugs, the one which goes to the dash has a wire that is cut its a blue wire with a yellow line on it, we have always thought this is the tacho wire, can anyone confirm this? If its not the tacho wire it could be the AC wire which means the tacho wire could be connected. Im sure i have read somewhere that if the tacho is not converted it kills the spark, is this right? Also do the pins need to be moved about on this plug?
I have pictures of the ECU wiring, plugs and the blue wire. Could it be we have missed something obvious in wiring up the ECU? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
