I had that exact thought today. I will probably do that.
it's not the turbo because I just got it back from a rebuild. it did it before the rebuild and it still does it now. when it hits boost it runs rich as (lpg) which obviously has to do with tuning. it stinks hardcore like lpg too.
I am not sure about the smoke colour when it hits boost because the dark blacky/blue smoke takes over haha.
white smoke is oil. my brother (mechanic) reckons it might be the piston rings as well.
ahh stuff it i'll just get a new 1G instead of pulling this one apart.
