If you pull all your sparks out the engine will turn over alot easier, save your battery.
What is the wiring like in the car, good job or grubby?
If you want to find the crank angle sensor plug its down behind the alternator. The entire length of crank angle wire should be well shielded as they are supsebtable to electric interference. It sorta sounds like the ign system has been wired up to a source of constant +12V power (dodge). Then there is another wire for another system in the car which also has constant +12V power running near a section of exposed CAS wire hence cause the interference and giving the CAS a signal which is inturn firing the spark.
I assume the entire loom is intact so you may find its a section of CAS wire that may have been melted, so start checking. If you want to try another igniter I have one sitting in my hot little hand right now. Also check where the power source wire for the ignitor is going to, the wire is black with an orange stripe coming out of the small black plug.
