Registered: March 2004	Re: the volvo brake caliper..what material is it made from Tue, 15 March 2005 05:05 The early Volvo caliper that takes a db549 pad was used from '76-'83, Girling & weighs 4.5 kilo. inc pads. Used on 240,242,244,245,246 & 265 models. The ATE caliper takes a db62 pad & weighs 4 kilo.less pads. Used on '75-'82 245dl &'83-'86 240 dl&gl. The third make of caliper used was Teves but I have no info on it. The dual line system does not present a problem. They are cast iron & extremely rigid. I have a pair of ATE ones if you are interested. Can't remember how much the Hilux ones weigh, but I remember when doing some adapting with them once thinking they made Volvo ones feel pretty light.
