the best thing to ship the motor on would be a "skid", its about 1/2 the size of a normal red or blue supermarket pallet. the skid is better because its the perfect size for a motor. just place a tyre on the skid, then the motor on the tyre. get some thick industrial strength wire, and you attach it to the motor and the skid, and twist it tight with a big pair of pliers or a ring spanner etc. until the wire is really tight. do this in 3 or 4 areas from the skid to the motor. after youve tightened them all up, make sure that they're tight enough so the motor cant rock around on the skid, if the motor moves a bit then just undo one of the wires and twist and pull it tighter. the other thing you could use to restrain the motor is metal strapping, its black strapping about 2cm wide, but you need access to a little ratchet strapper. you could use rope aswell, you just need to be able to do some nice tight truckie's loop knots, and just pull them damn tight.

then get some cling wrap, industrial stuff is better, but you could use the stuff in your kitchen, and wrap it around the bottom skirt of the skip all around the motor right to the top, just to help it all stay together a bit better.

good luck. Smile
