My car blew smoke out of the exhaust on the way to Victor. by 'blew' i mean....BLEW! limped the car home (altough it seemed to be fine on the way back) and rang mechanic!! Now apparently. white smoke signifies a lean mixture. ie. computer issues. this was what blew out. checked the oil dip and was good (still oil) and the coolent was still there. BUT then i got to the pipe that leads to the throttle body. loose!!!! So here's my theory. so feel free to grill me...but...when the car was going at whatever speed it was going at!! (180-200km/h) air was sucked straight through the loose hose skipping the Air Flow Meter! and causing a lean mixture. my supporting reason for this is 1. did an oil change when i got back anyway & if anything..it ran smoother than before! 2. visually stopped blowing smoke after I rested it 3. can't hear any noise (other than obvious) coming from engine whatdya think. p/s. thanks to the boys in the 300zx and to Nigel for stopping. Nice to see some support! pp/s. no-one bit me when i was there, which was good!! EDIT: ppp/s. was i the only hungry one there???
