Hey everybody,

Somebody told me that heater fans (w/ AC off) use heat from inside the engine bay so it's good for ur car- off the line/on a hot day/etc..is this true (late model cars)? Also, do the fans (w/out AC) take any power away while you're driving?

Cheers!

The heater works by the way of a pipe that is in the cooling system going into the cab of the car. Once the engine is warmed up, the water is hot, and the fan just sucks the heat through the vents.

That's a very basic description.

It's only good for your car if your car is overheating to turn the heater on and fry yourself on a hot day.

Yes the fans take power away. The alternator has to work harder.

I can notice it if I turn the fan on while idling.
