Many cars are built with no synchro on reverse... And even the ones with synchro, still crunch... Its the fact that the counter shaft and the gear just don't perfectly line up and are spinning in opposite directions if you go to engage reverse quickly... Reverse crunch, and even first gear engagement are quite common, ESPECIALLY on older cars [Report message to a moderator]
