I have no idea what the size of the drain hole your talking about is,
but the thing with an oil return is that it's gravity fed, so it MUST be reasonably below the turbo.
So in short, ensure you don't have any areas in your drain plug where you will have oil pooling.
Other than that, the oil that comes out of the turbo will be frothy and airated, but other than that, it's still the same amount of oil that goes into the turbo by the oil feed at the top.
But, whatever you do, DON'T cause a scenario where the oil can't get out and goes stale in the turbo. It'll kill the center very quickly.
