The router I got is a D-Link DI-624+ and the card for the mac is a D-Link DFE-528TX.
The mac is a G3 with OS 8.6

My brother has a G4 mac running off the same router but his ethernet card was built into the computer. Here's a couple of quick suggestions. Have you tried installing the card before installing the software & vice versa? Are you sure the card is inserted properly? Do any of the network lights blink?

From my experience D-Link Australia is next to useless, they don't even list the mac version of your ethernet adaptor on their site. I found the drivers and the installation guide on their UK site so you might want to try contacting them instead. You should also check that you've got the latest drivers aswell since they'll often ship with older software...

If all else fails you could also try asking here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/dlink
