sound likes something that recently happened to me, my battery was completly buggered, so i ended up getting a new one and it works great now, my suggestion is probably try using battery jumper leads with another car or one of those generated ones and see if your car will start up with that, if it starts up no worries then most likly it'll be your battery.
maybe borrow a spare battery from someone else and try it and see how you go, it might be the battery some how got damaged from the welding.
