Hey!

Thats kinda what I'm doing right now: I'm swapping the wiring from an ae92 gtz hlafcut into an ae85.

Yes the engine loom wiring is seperate to the chassis lights etc. This is the case on my halfcut, I think it's the same for most if not all cars.

However (from my halfcut) the ecu connects to some accessories in the car... eg
- instrument cluster
- A/C fan etc. (For increasing idle speed with load?)

If you are changing ecus you will probably have to cut/solder some of the above old plugs to new plugs, which will be tedious but simple.

- Also some mucking around with the fuse box will probably be required.

Other than that there shouldn't be any problems! Just make sure you label everything when you unplug the loom, so it's easy to connect back up.
I'd say if you can solder then you can do it yourself.

btw I'm new at this too, and I haven't tested my wiring yet!! So maybe someone else could give their opinion?

Good luck anyway!
