Good luck finding a CT20 housing that is not cracked! Regardless of driving style, boost etc, its just the constant thermal loading of warm up/cool down cycles that causes them to crack.
In theory, it could affect boost response, as it may provide a passage for exhaust gases to escape before the turbine, but in reality it may not make much of a noticeable difference.
