i just T-ed of the heater core lines in the AE71 - but this was mainly cos the RB25 turbo had big water fittings on it, the same size as heater hose.
I took the feed from the line that goes from the thermostat housing to the heater core, and the drain from the turbo to the line that goes from back of the head to the heater tap.
It made a bit of a mess of heater hose, but it worked pretty well.
There are about eleventy billion ways to do it
