That's what I would have expected. My new import has the plate riveted over the old jap number, thought it was odd. Would make it very easy to clone cars.... I've got two white MR2s, it would be easy to make a new plastic label and rivet it over the chassis number on my Australian one, and use the import rego for both cars! Only trouble is if RTA decide to drill the rivets and find the wrong chassis number, I would think they would keep records of the imported jap chassis number? But maybe if it was welded on....Would they ever bother even to drill the rivets? [Report message to a moderator]
