Had a bit of a problem with teh RAV on the weekend (ho-hum, so what else is new...), the right-rear CV popped right out of the diff and shredded the boot. Lucky this happened in 1st gear. Apparently the reason why this happened is because the mounting bolts from the diff bracketry to the chassis cross-rail had become loose and one had fallen out completely.
I'll try and get a pic of the diff mounting points from it's install last year, but it's just two big bolts going through 5mm steel and into the chassis. Is there any other way of mounting this back up a bit more solidly than it was? I'll get a pic up as soon as I can.
This thing must have been generating a fair bit of torque at the diff for the bolts to loosen like that...
