because a crossflow motor would be 100,000,004 times easier than having all that stuff stuck on one side of the motor... oh, nearly forgot, tunable fuel is much more sensible, but efi-for-18R is very rare...
basically, you have to custom build everything - whereas 18rg or 1ggte or 2tge or 3sgte or etc., even the humble 21re have efi intake all ready to use and there's probably used hardware you can buy for turbo/exhaust manifold, dump pipe etc. plus there's lots of advice out there (and here) on tuning and setting up these engines for turbo power
i'm on manifold #2, turbo #2, intake converted to EFI, programmable ECU and this will be the last major mods done to the motor as it's too old/hard/painful to work on.
it might be fun to drive, plus it really gets people thinking about alternative mods for engines - but i'm pissed that i didn't started out with a more suitable motor.
