Regardless of the state of the traffic lights you should alwasy keep enough distance between your car and the one infront. From the sounds of things you are aware that your car doesn't stop as well as a new corolla and so you should have compensated for this. It would be nice if the corolla had realised you were not able to stop and had run the orange light but they had every right to stop as it is your responsibility to leave a safe gap. I really don't want to come across the wrong way here. Its a real shame that your car has been damaged and I hope that everything works out ok with your insurance. Hopefully people will read this thread and remember to leave a safe stopping distance infront of them. They don't teach a 3 second rule to learners for nothing... and really if you do the maths even 3 seconds isn't really enough at speeds over 60km/h. [Report message to a moderator]
