ok, here is my installer's analysis:
1/ They are ultrasonic sensors. Ultrasonic sensors are shit. They are a bitch to tune properly and are as reliable as a jaguar motor. Don't use them
2/ As above, yes you will need the original remotes most likely. Turning the key will simply enable the siren on the alarm. Best bet is to get it removed and replaced with a DECENT alarm, and if you want internal protection, then get microwave sensors - they are a million times better.
3/ Can use either double or single DIN head units. If you use single DIN, then yes a basic single DIN pocket can be purchased from toyota for bugger all $$$ to fill in the gap. Remember with MP3 head units or any MP3 sound reproduction, there is a loss in quality (but a bonus in data size!).
JVC is ok for mid range head units, but useless if you really want something of choice. Depending on your budget there is a lot to chose from.
4/ if you can fibreglass, no worries! if not.. then maybe a replacement is the go.
