Ok Girls,

Having assisted in a 1G-GTE swap (Darrens Second 1G-GTE) and having just recently finshed doing one in Tina's RA28. There are a few things I'd like to mention.

Firstly there are many ways to Skin a cat ! There are also many ways to fit a 1G ! Hell the 1G has several different engine mount locations/types I am aware of and at least 3 sump configurations !

Ok first a few things about Tina's engine !

1# It sits low and pretty much dead flat !
2# It doesn't foul on the stearing at all (heat shield was trimmed tho
3# It uses 2T Rubber engine mounts on a TA23 Xmember
4# It is the front Sump variety
5# Bonnet will clear with Shitloads of room
6# Twin 10" thermo fans are fitted between the radiator and the engine Twisted Evil Twisted Evil (Was bloody happy with that )

Ok a few other points !

The spacer plate install is a tried and true method and works fine. HOWEVER the lower the engine sits the better the car will handle due to the centre of gravity being lower !

Heres a pic of Where Tina's sits

With the engine level my Shifter sits sweet ! level and just a tad further back than normal (using the factory 1G-GTE W55)

There are pics of most of what we did in the new conversions gallery on the main site. Smile

I am not saying Tina's install is any better than any other. What I am doing tho is illistrating a point. I am familiar with 4 different 1G installs all 4 are done very differently.

Daves sits on Hilux mounts, Phils still uses 18R mounts but the mounting point has been lowered and pushed back (As was Darrens second install) Tina's is a totally different due to the front sump but is also lowered and pushed back !

The key is to read as much as you can and then do what works for you Smile

Hope that helps guys and don't fight about it just accept that there are different ways to do it and all of them have there merits Smile
