You *can* remove the core without disconnecting the aircon. That said, you can only *just* do it. I managed to do it in the Celica, and pray to god I never have to do it in the XX, it's a shit of a job.


I removed the A/C so that is easy, but I pray that I never have to touch the heater core, 'cause it would be a shite of a job, A/C or not !!!
