The recipe is normally around 1/2" from the roof skin at most, and at max 1" from the pillars for the main hoop. And then similar for the rest. Common to stitch a plate between the A pillars and the cage too.
Thats from my observation.
Go buy the CAMS manual, and look at the homologated cage designs (and hopefully dont destroy that section with coffee like i did to my 03 manual)
