How is an 8.5:1 compression engine going to ping on 91 octane fuel? Even Commodore V6's (tuned for 91 RON) have a higher CR than this, and that's with an ancient iron-head engine!
Like I said, my 5M-E was run exclusively on ULP and it never even looked like pinging, even on hot days. Even my 6M-GE will run OK on ULP 90% of the time, and it has a 9.4:1 CR!
