if it was a cv usualy they click worse when you turn in a certain direction.

not sure about the 3sge but with the 3sgte in my 162 when my mounts were worn it would allow the engine to move to much when first applyin pressure to the gearbox/cv's. the gearbox would just nudge the crossmember and other things, maybe check that it cant hurt and dont cost anything

does the car , steering wheel etc shake/vibrate when this clunk is happening?
