I'd say there are plenty of both 7M and 1G Z20 Soarer's floating around - and more and more 1JZ converted ones it seems.

I've had 2 issues with my 1G'd Z20.

Overheated firstly when my thermostat chucked it - few bucks and a few minutes it was sorted.

Later - after I turned the boost up - on hot days of 30+, air-con set to the lowest of 18oC, stuck in heavy traffic - the car would overheat

It was traced to the factory belt driven fan - the clutch in it fails due to age - replaced with a pair of thermo's and it's been fine since.

On the 7m's - the first one may be blown headgasket - the common 7M problem - second - could be anything.
