you dont need to take the whole steering wheel off though!! I replaced the one in my RA28 aaaaages ago and i dont remember having the steering wheel off....

once you have the steering column plastic covers off, you can see the switch part of the ignition barrel with the wires coming off at the opposite end of the barrel to where you insert the key. One phillips head screw and she is removed from the barrel, and then unplug the 6 pin plug that is at the end of the wires coming off the switch (should only be 20cm long) ... and now replace.
