I'll be nice
If you want my truly honest opinion, ditch the car - but that's what I'd do. If you like the car, well that's your thing, and it's not hard to improve a Commodore. Personally, I'd never consider any of the Holden options, and would rather stick a Toyota engine in there (1UZ, 1/2JZ.) Second to that is the easiest option, being to stick in a Nissan engine - VL crossmember etc. and you can bolt in RB20/25 (no way I'd waste a 26 on a VK!) without TOO much difficulty. Fuel tank? EFI VK, and use a bigger pump. Transmission? Do you like manual or auto? Suspension? Talk to any reasonable suspension place - Commodores aren't exactly hard to find bits for. Bolt on some 17s so you can fit larger brakes. Easy fit is the hub-type SV5000 (about 330mm) rotors. Use common calipers - Nissan 4 potters are easy to come by. That should at least give you something to think about.
