Re: Setting up an oil catch can that returns to sump?

My 4AGTE runs a catch can with drain to sump. This setup has been on the car for nearly six years and has not presented a single problem. Up until recently it was venting to atmosphere through a small filter mounted on top of the can. It now vents back into the intake.
Mine runs a 1/2" hose from the cam cover to the can, 1/2" hose from the can to the sump. 3/4" (1/2" would be fine) hose from can to intake pipe (pre turbo compressor).
My oil never looks funny or milky, it is changed every 5000km or less (filter changed also) and most of the time it either looks like it did in the bottle or just a little darker.
I have had no issues with the oil at all when at the track or at any other time. I know of several other 4AG's running a similar set up to mine, all without problems.
To run the drain into the sump you will need to have a weld on fitting mounted nice and high on the sump. You will need to remove the sump to do this.
