Personally i would put it up on a jig and drill out the original welds and double spot weld, looks so much more cleaner and add new ones in between the old ones to stiffen, focus around the strut towers and front and rear wheel arches, around where front subframe meets firewall etc. when my mate seam welded his datsun 1600 he did ONE weld at a time going from left front to right rear to right front to left rear etc. to allow for cooling and to stop any warpage in the chassis, also had chassis on a jig so that it remained straight. I know it is illegal to cut and shut any chassis rails but replacing things like radiator supports and other parts of the body is fine. If you know what your doing you can do anything to the chassis (like putting a new front end on) and it will never be picked up and its not dangerous (IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING) and will be stronger than original anyway. Laws like that are for a reason and that is because so many people think they are clever and will half do a job, So practice on a shit body with your seam welding, watch what happens when you get happy with that welder and take your time. It took my mate 3 weeks to do his body in between work coming in and out of his workshop so be patient.
good luck
