the design you made seems feasable the only concern i see with it is that by extending the length of the sump further you may get a bit of surge around the pickup on accel ( the time when you least want it!), it might provide a better design by keeping rougly the same dimensions around the pickup and merely shortening both the pickup length and then cut the bottom of the pan in just the pickup area to suit the new length, I cant see any reason why doing it that way wouldnt work just as well. And seeing as the rest of the original sump is fairly tightly packaged theres no need to totally refabricate... ill do a quick drawing in the next few minutes and post it up.
