My idea would be to have the trap door about half the size or even about 1/4 in size. The idea being less oil to slosh around. Think of it as a pet door.
Or even keep that big one and place, say, four more around the pickup point. Four 1/4 size ones that is. Have the trap doors at the bottom of the sump and make them like baffles
With the baffles they don't go all the way up only, say 3/4 of the way up. Its so that the oil can flow over the top but the oil thats already around the pickup won't move by much.
