If you made 300 in 3 weeks and got taxed $80, your work is calculating your tax wrong. If you work one week in the three (and didn't work the other 2) and got paid 300, then you'd be taxed. The reason behind it is that there is a taxfree threshhold of about $5000 / year. Hence if you make 100/week you won't get taxed. If you make 300/week (even though you didn't work other weeks) it appears to the pay person that you are actually earning about $15K / year and should be taxed. You'll get the money back when you do your tax return. If you need the money now, go b1tch slap your pay person and make sure it doesn't happen next time. [Report message to a moderator]
